Debbie McNamara leads Economic Development Queensland (EDQ) with a vision for driving economic growth, urban development, housing affordability, and environmental sustainability. With over two decades of experience in development, infrastructure, and urban renewal, Debbie has significantly impacted both public and private sectors.
Debbie's career began in funds management after studying economics. Her passion for tangible community impact led her to property management in the UK, where she spent 20 years leading various urban renewal projects, including a notable tenure in Glasgow.
Upon returning to Australia seven years ago, Debbie joined the Queensland Department of Health, leading the Herston Quarter redevelopment, including the new STARS hospital. Her expertise in public-private partnerships (PPP) was pivotal in this role.
At EDQ, Debbie embraces the organisation's diverse portfolio and opportunities, leading initiatives that positively impact Queensland communities. Her involvement with industry bodies like the UDIA, PCA, and ULI highlights her dedication to best practices in urban development.
Debbie champions diversity and authenticity in leadership, fostering an inclusive and agile approach to problem-solving and continuous learning.
