Who are we

Economic Development Queensland (EDQ) works in partnership with industry, government and communities to unlock homes, drive economic prosperity and create liveable places at scale and pace.

As the Queensland Government’s land use planning and land activation agency, our strength lies in removing barriers for industry to accelerate homes and create more jobs closer to home for Queenslanders through economic development.

We do this through a range of levers. For example, we’re expanding our Priority Development Area (PDA) program to fast-track homes at pace and scale, where it’s needed most. This includes delivering critical infrastructure to unlock more development-ready land within these PDA’s – ensuring our future communities are supported by the right infrastructure, in the right place at the right time, in line with local needs. Another example is EDQ’s focus on reducing unnecessary red tape for industry to accelerate housing supply, as well as accelerating homes and industrial development by releasing well-located development-ready land in line with local growth.

To support this, EDQ is transforming to become a responsive, agile and transparent development partner. Most recently, this includes improvements to EDQ’s development assessment service which launched in November 2025. Improvements include a new online Development Assessment Customer Portal; a faster, integrated and more responsive development assessment process; and an improved pre-lodgement service.
