Rockpool Northshore: Construction underway on new aged care community
Construction has officially commenced on Rockpool Northshore – a 153-bed residential aged care community in Northshore Brisbane within the state’s largest waterfront urban renewal precinct.
Enabling housing for every stage of life
Like other Australian states and territories, Queenslanders are getting older. From 2010 to 2022, Queensland’s population aged 65 or older increased by 61% (Queensland Government, 2025). As a result, delivering a range of homes for all stages of life will be critical to solving Queensland’s housing supply challenge.
Rockpool Northshore is an example of the Queensland Government’s commitment to increasing housing supply for all housing needs. Being delivered by Rockpool Residential Aged Care and constructed by McNab, Rockpool Northshore will provide high-quality homes for older Queenslanders in an enviable location – giving them access to nature, community and lifestyle related benefits within the broader Northshore precinct. With riverfront paths, green space and local dining all nearby, this development has been designed to support residents to remain part of the community they love.
This is the third time Rockpool has successfully delivered an aged care development on EDQ land – demonstrating how enabling the right providers can accelerate delivery of the right housing solutions in the right locations.
Once operational, Rockpool Northshore will support ongoing jobs in aged care and allied services, helping meet demand in a growing and evolving community.
Looking ahead
Rockpool Northshore is expected to be completed in late 2026 and will become a permanent home for more than 150 residents. EDQ is proud to support such important housing initiatives that unlock land, remove barriers for developers and enable the right housing in line with community need.
