Key details
The Sunshine Coast Airport PDA was declared on 26 July 2023 and the Development Scheme came into effect on 27 September 2024.
The PDA covers the entire airport site in Marcoola, Sunshine Coast.
Development Scheme
The Sunshine Coast Airport PDA Development Scheme is the regulatory document which assists with planning, carrying out, promoting, coordinating and controlling land development within the PDA.
The Development Scheme came into effect on 27 September 2024.
The proposed Sunshine Coast Airport PDA Development Scheme was publicly notified between 26 June 2024 and 8 August 2024. A summary of submissions made during the submissions period and all amendments made to the Development Scheme in response to these submissions is in the submissions report.
Infrastructure
Funding and building infrastructure is key to facilitating development within PDAs.  The ED Act authorises MEDQ to set and levy infrastructure charges within a PDA, with the Infrastructure Funding Framework (IFF) serving as the primary EDQ policy document concerning charges for Sunshine Coast Airport PDA. As outlined in the IFF, the Sunshine Coast Airport PDA refers to the relevant Local Government’s charging instrument to determine the calculation of these charges.
Development assessment
Economic Development Queensland (EDQ) assesses development applications for this PDA.
All development applications are assessed against the Sunshine Coast Airport PDA Development Scheme.
