Ripley Valley

Public Notice

Under section 69 of the Economic Development Act 2012, the Minister for Economic Development Queensland (MEDQ) gives notice that the Ripley Valley Priority Development Area (PDA) Development Scheme was amended on 1 July 2025.

The amendment has been made to coincide with the commencement of the new Ipswich Planning Scheme 2025.  Its purpose is to retain functional references to the following sections of the repealed Ipswich Planning Scheme 2006 that are not included in the new Planning Scheme:

  • Part 12 Division 3, Traditional Neighbourhood Design Code (TND Code), and
  • Part 15, Ripley Valley Master Planned Area Structure Plan (RV Structure Plan).

Key details

The Ripley Valley Priority Development Area (PDA) is located in one of the largest urban growth areas in Australia.

It offers opportunities for further residential growth to meet the region's affordable housing needs.

It covers an area of 4680 hectares and is located approximately five kilometres south east of the Ipswich CBD and south of the Cunningham Highway.

It will potentially develop into 48,750 dwellings to house a population of 131,000 people.

The PDA was declared on 8 October 2010.

Development scheme

The development scheme is the regulatory document which assists with planning, carrying out, promoting, coordinating and controlling land development within the PDA.

The Ripley Valley PDA Development Scheme commenced on 8 October 2011 and was amended on 28 February 2025, and 1 July 2025.

Note: Amendments to the Economic Development Act 2012 have changed the interpretation of PDA exempt and PDA self-assessable development. More information
