Jarrod Bleijie grew up on the Sunshine Coast and was elected to the Queensland Parliament in 2009 at age 27. He serves as Deputy Premier of Queensland, Minister for State Development, Infrastructure and Planning, and Minister for Industrial Relations.
A former commercial lawyer, Jarrod has previously held senior Cabinet roles including Attorney-General and Minister for Justice. In that role he helped deliver the Sunshine Coast University Hospital and led major reforms to the justice system. He currently chairs the Cabinet Housing Taskforce and leads delivery of Queensland’s multibillion-dollar Residential Activation Fund to unlock more housing supply, while supporting planning reforms in partnership with communities and councils.
Jarrod is also delivering the Crisafulli Government’s flagship Sovereign Industry Development Fund to drive investment, create secure jobs, and strengthen Queensland’s sovereign manufacturing capabilities, supporting projects that will accelerate priority industry development in the key areas of biofuels, biomedicine and defence industry.
He is also overseeing industrial relations productivity reforms to deliver Queensland’s largest ever infrastructure capital pipeline, including the generational infrastructure for the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games and beyond.
His approach is grounded in strong partnerships, respect for taxpayers and getting things done.
