Vegetation management
The clearing or removal of vegetation in a PDA may be regulated by the relevant PDA Development Scheme. If this is the case a PDA Development Application for Operational Work is required to be lodged, assessed and approved by EDQ prior to clearing the vegetation to lodge an application via EDQ’s online customer portal.
In certain Brisbane PDAs (ie. Bowen Hills, Northshore Hamilton and Fitzgibbon), interfering with controlled vegetation is managed by EDQ under the Economic Development (Vegetation Management) By-law 2023. This is different from the clearing or removal of vegetation.
Interfering with vegetation means any activity that damages or leads to disfigurement or mutilation of a tree or plant or interferes with the growth of the tree or plant, including (but not limited to);
- Pruning, cutting or tearing a branch or trunk
- Removing bark from a tree
- Damaging a root zone
- Fitting or inserting an object into any living tissue or bark
To lodge an application to interfere with controlled vegetation you can lodge an application via EDQ’s online customer portal.

Interfering with vegetation (eg. pruning) in any other PDA may be managed by the local government (Council) under a local law. You should contact the relevant Council for further information.
