Driving regional growth through investment and job creation

Regional development February 24, 2025

Economic Development Queensland is at the forefront of transforming key regions across the state, playing a pivotal role in fostering business growth, job creation, and investment.

With 17 industrial estates strategically located throughout Queensland, from the Sunshine Coast to Townsville, we are actively unlocking new opportunities for businesses to expand and thrive.

Our industrial portfolio covers almost 20,000 hectares of land across the state, including fully developed, serviced estates and undeveloped land parcels.

Not only are these precincts attracting significant private sector investment, but they are also driving local employment and strengthening supply chains.

Indeed, by developing well-planned, infrastructure-ready industrial land, EDQ is ensuring Queensland’s regional centres are positioned for long-term economic success.

Find out more about our key regions and estates highlighted below.

North Queensland

As one of Queensland’s largest regional economies, Townsville and surrounding towns are attracting significant investment in advanced manufacturing, logistics, and heavy industry. EDQ is helping to drive this growth by delivering well-planned industrial estates that provide businesses with infrastructure-ready land, enabling expansion and innovation across key sectors.

Bohle Industrial Estate

Strategically located to support Townsville’s booming manufacturing and logistics industries, Bohle Industrial Estate is one of north Queensland’s largest and most well-connected industrial precincts. With strong transport links and access to skilled labour, it continues to attract businesses looking to expand in the region.

Bowen Industrial Estate

Positioned to support the growth of the resources, agribusiness, and renewable energy sectors, Bowen Industrial Estate provides crucial infrastructure to facilitate industrial expansion. Through this development, EDQ is ensuring Townsville remains a leading centre for industry and investment, driving long-term economic prosperity for north Queensland.

South Mackay Industrial Estate

Mackay is also a vital centre for industry, logistics, and trade, serving as a gateway to the Bowen Basin—one of the world’s richest coal reserves.

With excellent connectivity to major transport corridors, this estate is strengthening Mackay’s role as a key player in Queensland’s industrial landscape.

North West Queensland

The region is one of Australia’s most important mining and industrial centres, playing a pivotal role in the nation’s resources sector.

With a rich history in mining, minerals processing, and heavy industry, Mount Isa in particular is a key driver of economic growth.

Kalkadoon Industrial Estate

With proximity to major transport routes and key mining operations, Kalkadoon Industrial Estate is an ideal base for businesses servicing the region’s mining and minerals processing industries.

Mica Creek Industrial Precinct

Located near existing energy and industrial infrastructure, Mica Creek Industrial Park is well-positioned to support heavy industry, manufacturing, and energy-related businesses.

Nordale Industrial Estate

Nordale Industrial Estate supports a range of businesses, from mining services and equipment suppliers to logistics and transport operations.

Central Queensland

Central Queensland is home to two of the state’s most critical industrial hubs, Gladstone and Rockhampton, and EDQ is playing a vital role in strengthening the position of these industrial powerhouses.

In Gladstone, we are driving large-scale economic activity and supporting key industries, including manufacturing, resources and energy sectors.

Aldoga Industrial Estate

Located in a prime position with strong transport connections, Aldoga Industrial Estate is designed to support heavy industry, logistics, and advanced manufacturing. With direct access to Gladstone’s deep-water port and key transport networks, Aldoga provides businesses with the infrastructure and space needed for large-scale operations.

Clinton Industrial Estate

As a well-established industrial precinct, Clinton Industrial Estate is home to a diverse range of businesses. Its proximity to the Gladstone Port and key arterial roads makes it an attractive location for businesses looking to expand in one of Queensland’s most important regions.

Yarwun Industrial Estate

Positioned at the heart of Gladstone’s growing industrial corridor, Yarwun Industrial Estate is attracting major investment in advanced manufacturing, energy, and heavy industry.

Parkhurst Industrial Estate

Rockhampton, the self-proclaimed ‘Beef Capital of Australia’ also plays a vital role in supporting the state’s economy and is home to a growing industrial sector, attracting investment in advanced manufacturing, agribusiness, freight and logistics.

Here, EDQ’s Parkhurst Industrial Estate is a strategically positioned precinct designed to enhance supply chain efficiency, drive private sector investment, and create long-term employment opportunities.

Wide Bay Burnett

Bundaberg, Kingaroy and Gympie are fast emerging as key industrial and economic centres in the Wide Bay Burnett region, with strong connections to agriculture, manufacturing, logistics, and energy.

Bundaberg Industrial Park

Bundaberg Industrial Park is a strategically located precinct designed to support a range of industries and is fast attracting businesses seeking to capitalise on the city’s skilled workforce and growing economy.

Taabinga Industrial Estate

A key player in the state’s industrial and agricultural sectors and the “Peanut Capital of Australia”, Kingaroy has long been a vital agriculture hub. With its growing infrastructure it is now expanding its role as a regional industrial centre.

Our Taabinga Industrial Estate is ideally positioned to support industries related to agriculture, food production, and distribution, making it a vital asset to the region’s growing economy.

Sunshine Coast, South East Queensland

The Sunshine Coast is an ideal destination for business growth and investment, with a dynamic economy driven by advanced manufacturing, clean technology, logistics, and emerging industries.

EDQ developments include:

Coolum Eco Industrial Park

Coolum Eco Industrial Park is Australia’s largest sustainable industrial estate, designed to support businesses that prioritise environmental responsibility and resource efficiency. With a focus on clean technology, advanced manufacturing, and sustainable industries, this estate is setting a new benchmark for eco-friendly industrial development.

Sunshine Coast Industrial Park

Located in one of Queensland’s most sought-after business regions, Sunshine Coast Industrial Park is a key hub for logistics, warehousing, and manufacturing. With excellent transport connectivity and proximity to major economic centres, the estate is attracting businesses looking to capitalise on the region’s skilled workforce and strong economic growth.
