EDQ Industry Forum: progress and priorities
Economic Development Queensland (EDQ) recently brought together more than 200 attendees from industry, along with representatives from the EDQ Board, at its Industry Forum to share progress across key initiatives and continue the conversation on how Queensland can deliver housing and industrial land at scale and pace.
The forum provided a platform to reflect on recent milestones, outline priorities for the year ahead and hear directly from industry on opportunities to strengthen collaboration.
Strategic update from the CEO
EDQ CEO Julian Simmonds opened the forum with an update on EDQ’s strategic direction, outlining how the organisation is focusing our efforts on unlocking development-ready land and supporting housing supply across Queensland.
Panel discussion with industry and technical experts
The formal presentation was followed by a panel discussion and Q&A, bringing together technical expertise from EDQ and local government to explore practical challenges and opportunities on the ground.
The panel featured:
- Debra Robinson, Director Sustainable Growth and Planning, Sunshine Coast Council
- Ruth Stokes, Chief Infrastructure and Planning Officer, Development Services, EDQ
- Kate Ives, Housing Supply Director, EDQ
Panel members shared perspectives on challenges, opportunities and the role partnerships play in accelerating housing supply. The discussion also provided attendees with the opportunity to ask questions and provide direct feedback on EDQ’s programs and processes.
Continuing the conversation with industry
With EDQ’s focus firmly on delivering the Land Activation Program, increasing housing supply, unlocking industrial land and strengthening industry engagement, the forum reinforced the importance of ongoing dialogue with industry partners.
