Economic Development Queensland (EDQ) has marked a year of significant progress in unlocking land, accelerating housing supply and driving industrial growth across the state.
Our 2025 year in review video highlights the outcomes achieved through collaboration with industry, local government and partners to deliver more homes and economic opportunities for Queenslanders.
With a renewed focus, EDQ remains committed to supporting industry, local government and all Queenslanders to deliver more homes and economic opportunities at scale and pace.

Unlocking housing through Priority Development Areas
This year, EDQ approved a record 8,003 new homes and lots in Priority Development Areas (PDAs). To meet growing demand, we declared new PDAs that will unlock thousands of homes, including:
- Southern Thornlands – 8,000 homes
- Waraba – 30,000 homes
- North Harbour – 3,700 homes
- Mount Peter – 18,500 homes
Driving industrial and commercial growth
We released 324ha of development-ready land for commercial and industrial use, supporting new projects and partnerships across Queensland. Key highlights include:
- Sunshine Coast Industrial Park – 41 lots released
- Coolum Industrial Park – 18ha near completion
- Clinton Industrial Estate, Gladstone – 27 lots underway
These initiatives attracted $830 million in private sector investment and supported 1,716 jobs, helping businesses grow closer to home.
Unlocking inner-city opportunities
EDQ progressed major inner-city sites to deliver housing and mixed-use development:
- Turbot Street – 9,000m² of mixed-use and residential potential
- Former Visy site – 7.1ha parcel set to deliver more than 4,000 new homes
Expanding our land release pipeline
We brought new development-ready sites to market in Meadowbrook, Gold Coast, Bundamba and Brisbane, with more to come. We’ve also facilitated catalyst infrastructure in PDAs, enabling 38,500 homes across Queensland.
Improving how we work
EDQ approved a record number of lots and dwellings, achieving a 15% year-on-year increase and tripling assessment speed in the past six months. We introduced new tools for faster electronic lodgement, real-time tracking and improved pre-lodgement experiences, alongside updated development schemes and peak body MOUs.
