EDQ unveils refocused strategic direction to industry

The EDQ Industry Forum, held on Friday 20 June, brought together more than 130 representatives from government, industry and local councils to engage with EDQ’s new strategic direction and hear how we’re changing the way we work to better support Queensland’s growth.

We’re here to support industry deliver housing and industrial land at the pace and scale. Our role is to remove the barriers that slow delivery down – whether that’s planning complexity, infrastructure gaps or fragmented tenure – and let the market do what it does best.

EDQ’s realignment is bringing our organisation to:

  • Unlocking housing and industrial opportunities “At Scale and at Pace”,
  • Delivering more in the EDQ Priority Development Area (PDA) program,
  • More development ready land to market,
  • Greater development certainty,
  • Improved efficiency, service delivery and customer engagement.

This shift is backed by industry feedback and an independent service review. It’s also being supported at all levels of government.

A panel session followed bringing these strategies into tangible outcomes, discussing how local councils and the private and public sectors can better partner to meet demand. The panel was moderated by EDQ Board Deputy Chair Alison Quinn and featured:

  • Rebecca Young MP, Assistant Minister for State Planning, Housing and Better Regulation
  • Kirsty Chessher-Brown, CEO, UDIA Queensland
  • John Livingstone, Managing Director, JGL Properties
  • Julian Simmonds, Acting CEO, EDQ

Thank you to all our industry peers who were able to attend and engage with us – we look forward to the next one!
