In 2014, the Queensland Government, in partnership with Brisbane City Council (BCC), finalised the planning framework to deliver a Transit Oriented Development (TOD) on the former Animal Research Institute site at Yeerongpilly. A TOD is a planning concept that promotes the creation of well-designed and sustainable urban communities focused around transit stations.

The State Planning Regulatory Provision (SPRP) 2016 (PDF icon 1.4 MB) for the Yeerongpilly TOD commenced on 8 May 2017.

State Planning Regulatory Provision and detailed plan of development

The Yeerongpilly TOD SPRP 2016 is the planning framework for the Yeerongpilly Green development and will guide future development in the area.

Yeerongpilly Green is a Queensland Government project managed through Economic Development Queensland (EDQ). The project was recently announced in the Advancing our cities and regions strategy.

The Yeerongpilly TOD SPRP 2014 required updating to appropriately reflect the agreed development. The Queensland Government sought feedback from community members on the proposed changes from 2 December 2016 to 27 February 2017. A total of 13 submissions were received during this time, which can be viewed in the consultation report (PDF icon 770 KB).

The SPRP for the Yeerongpilly TOD was first approved in 2011 to allow for the urgent development of the South Regional Business Centre for the BCC. Since 2010, the Queensland Government has consulted extensively with the community on amendments to the SPRP.

The SPRP 2016 will take effect from 8 May 2017. Applications lodged after this date will be assessed against this new version of the SPRP. The SPRP 2016 will be incorporated into the Brisbane City Plan 2014 as a neighbourhood plan in mid-2017.

The detailed plan of development (PDF icon 12.5 MB) remains unchanged, and will be used by EDQ as guidance material when working to deliver the Yeerongpilly Green development.
