Women on boards

The Queensland Government is committed to increasing the number of women on boards in the public, private and not-for-profit sectors.

Our research has shown that diversity of gender on boards provides financial, performance and social benefits.

A range of resources are available to assist in making a positive difference for gender parity in Queensland.

White Ribbon Workplace Accreditation

We are committed to ensuring our employees work in a safe and healthy environment, and that is why we are participating in the White Ribbon Workplace Accreditation Program.

The program

The accreditation program is made up of 3 standards and 15 criteria that collectively create workplaces which promote respectful, safe and inclusive cultures. The aim is to create a community where all women can live in safety, free from violence and abuse. A key part of the program is engaging with men about the importance of their role in social change to prevent violence against women.

Workplace activities

Our commitment to building a future free from violence and abuse will be achieved as part of White Ribbon accreditation by:

  • the introduction of a domestic and family violence policy
  • encouraging employees to stand up, speak out and act to prevent domestic and family violence
  • providing access to employee support services
  • providing workplace training to employees and managers
  • promoting key events that raise awareness of domestic and family violence, including Domestic and Family Violence Prevention month, the Darkness to Daylight Challenge run, White Ribbon Night and White Ribbon Day
  • partnering with Women’s Shelters and community engagement.

Our steps towards workplace accreditation will play an important role in helping to stop violence against women in the Queensland community.

Proudly working towards becoming a White Ribbon Accredited Workplace
